Work Opportunity Tax Credit Information Section

1)  What actually is the Work Opportunity Tax credit (WOTC)?

The WOTC is a federal tax credit incentive that Congress created for private sector companies that choose to hire specific targeted groups who often face barriers to employment and have difficulty finding work.  Ticket to Work participants are one of the targeted groups in the WOTC.

2)  Who benefits from this federal tax incentive?

The federal incentive helps promote self-sufficiency and independence in the targeted groups, such as our Ticket to Work clients, while helping companies reduce their tax liabilities and hire a more diversified workforce.  It offers employment opportunties to sections of the population who might otherwise have barriers to finding jobs or who often remain unemployed.

3)   How does Employment Options, Inc. participate in the WOTC? 

Employment Options pre-screens all Ticket to Work applicants that come to us for job placement.  Our job counselors work with the client to place them in suitable employment with a private sector company.  We then help that company understand the WOTC tax credit and how hiring Ticket to Work participants can help their financial plan and help them obtain highly skilled workers.  All of these services are free of charge thanks to Ticket to Work guidelines.
