Payroll Processor I – (MEO 716C)

Summary:

The Processor, Payroll I position is responsible for gathering, computing, auditing and disbursing, wages, deductions, taxes and other withholding’s. Balancing payroll time records/ interfaces, making changes to time records and entry to other payroll related data in accordance with company policy and procedures. Provides customer support through Service Now (SNow), email, or in writing (fax or mail). Relies on documented instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job functions and works under immediate supervision. Prepares and routes reports and or/payments to management, government agencies, insurance companies, vendors, and others. Handles all and any other duties assigned by Payroll Management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handles time record follow-up and ensures follow company policies.
  • Gather, review, and enter payroll changes from management, HR, and/or affiliates.
  • Ensure timely & accurate review/processing of employee changes.
  • Balances payroll earnings and deductions and processes related payments.
  • Provide customers support to employees, HR and other interested parties through SNow, email, and in writing (fax or mail).
  • Assists with system testing in Sandbox under the direction of Payroll Specialist II, III or Payroll management.
  • Complete various payroll processes such as manual payments, garnishments, ACH activities, wires, etc.
  • Current on changes to payroll and garnishments procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure work is done in accordance with the guidelines set forth for the department and SOPs are followed and updated with the most current practice and provided to management for signoff and posting.
  • Assist management with special projects and payroll activities such as year-end as needed.
  • Inform management of potential or significant problems and personnel-related issues.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Basic knowledge of commonly used payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of mortgage loan documents and related required documentation.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to support customers via SNow and on the phone.
  • Ability to identify and handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Intermediate organizational skills with a solid level of written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively.
  • Detail oriented with basic analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to follow and apply verbal/written procedures and guidelines.
  • Two-year Accounting degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of payroll experience.
  • Experience with computers and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet websites.
  • Experience working in a remote environment and actively participates in team or individual meetings.
  • Experience with Workday software, preferred.
