Responsibilities: Receives direction from the Transcription Assistant Supervisors, Transcription Manager and HIMS/Transcription Director. Medical Transcriptionists (MTs) are medical language specialists who transcribe dictation, create correspondence, and/or edit speech-recognized dictation for physicians and other healthcare providers in order to document patient care in the medical record. MTs work remotely; however, designated MTs may be required to work on site to support departmental functions/operations. MTs are required to meet departmental quality and productivity standards. MTs will utilize department specific applications, the Book of Style by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), and other professional reference materials. MTs must have the ability to accurately block and copy transcribed information into letter format and proofread documents to meet institutional standards. The Quality Assurance Specialists and Inaudible Team provide assistance with interpreting dictation that is unclear or inconsistent. Notification must be made to Leadership of any potential risk management discrepancies that are identified in the dictation. Works cooperatively with co-workers, physicians and allied health staff.

Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent required. • Ability to type 65 wpm required • Minimum of one year’s transcription experience. • Multispecialty strongly preferred. • Knowledge of medical terminology required. • Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) preferred.

Additional Qualifications: • Must demonstrate ability to work quickly, accurately under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. • Strong knowledge of computer/dictation/transcription software and hardware. • Ability to independently set up equipment and troubleshoot issues with minimal supervisory assistance. • Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. • Strong research skills. • Experience utilizing electronic health record. • Must willingly perform all duties as assigned.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.63 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: Sunday – Thursday, 1500-2300 hours
Weekend Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 1500-2300 hours
