Analyst – Data Business – (MEO 716B)

Summary:

The Analyst, Data Business reporting directly to the VP of Special Projects, is responsible for gathering and processing the data, creating, and maintaining reports, while providing analytical support to drive business growth. The role involves leveraging thorough understanding of business processes and requirements, specifically in the context of creation and management of sales and marketing campaigns.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Analyze & report on the performance of key marketing metrics to gauge trends, benchmarks, and performance of sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Write and modify complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support analytics initiatives.
  • Interpret business requirements and convert to SQL to extract, manipulate, and map key elements into final production campaign files.
  • Research and analyze internal systems and third-party source data to determine value for new process development or existing process enhancements.
  • Derive value by analyzing customer data and identifying marketing and sales opportunities.
  • Partner with internal and external customers in developing business analysis and reports.
  • Manages and maintains current report catalog including automating manual reports as well as improvements to existing reports.
  • Execute recurring / Ad hoc analysis and dashboards.
  • Creates and maintains documentation regarding all analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Strong working knowledge of Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle (or equivalent).
  • Proven analytical skills in data mining, data manipulation, report development and visualization,
  • Proficiency in initiating, establishing, and maintaining relationships with the business community.
  • Ability to transform data into a story.
  • Attention to details, ability to QC your own work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to think creatively in complex situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must be flexible and comfortable in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities, projects and timelines.
  • Prior project management experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage industry, preferred.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Math, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science or related analytical fields; Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of data analytics experience in financial services industry – preferably real estate, consumer finance or insurance.
  • Experience with BI report development tools such as Microsoft Power BI (preferred), Tableau, or similar.

Language Skills:

Strong written skill desired. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Complexity:

Tasks are multiple and diverse with some interrelationship across processes. Work requires the direct application of a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents. Responsible for making adjustments or recommended enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area. Problems and issues faced are general and may require understanding of broader set of issues but typically are not complex. May require familiarity with the financial/mortgage (or job-specific) industry. Problems require understanding of other job areas. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue.
